What to bring to your appointment
Referral Letter
A referral from your general practitioner or optometrist is required to be eligible for a Medicare rebate. If possible, please ask your referring doctor to send their referral form directly to us via fax, email, or in person before, or at, your appointment date. They may also use our referral form.

Identification and Concession Cards
Please bring your Medicare card. If applicable, also bring your Pension or Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) card.
Medication List
A current list of all medications you are taking, including any known allergies to medications.
Eyewear
Your current reading and distance glasses if applicable.
Sunglasses
If your assessment requires pupil dilation, you may experience glare and blurred vision for several hours afterward so we recommend bringing sunglasses for comfort.

What to expect during your appointment
At your initial visit, you will be asked to complete a New Patient form, followed by preliminary eye tests carried out by our Orthoptist before seeing the doctor.
To allow a thorough examination of the retina (the back of the eye), eye drops may be used to dilate your pupils. These drops can cause temporary glare and blurred vision for up to 3 hours after your appointment.
Allow up to 2 hours for your initial visit, depending on which diagnostic examinations will be required prior to your specialist consultation.

Fees & Billing
Our practice is a private specialist ophthalmology clinic. Consultation, investigation, and procedure fees are privately billed and may attract out-of-pocket costs.
Patients with a valid Medicare or DVA card and current referral may be eligible for rebates.
Where possible, our staff will explain expected fees and rebates before proceeding with additional tests or procedures.
